Crosman Pistol Field Target Gun
« on: November 19, 2009, 12:48:02 AM »
Here's a pic of the pistol I used at the last PFT match... I'll be working on converting it from a .22CAL to .177CAL in hopes of getting a flatter trajectory ... With a few mods and a bit of luck, this shooter will be good to go for the upcoming indoor PFT match...   ;D

Thanks, in the current configuration, this pistol shoots in the low to mid 400's fps with 14.3g pellets. After the CAL change to .177, it will get tuned to shoot into the 480-490 fps range with 7.9g pellets. Should yield more shots per cart and get a flatter trajectory.

Going to .177 should help you get a few more points per shoot, as you say, it will flatten out the trajectory by quite a lot... I look forward to seeing your name at the top of the scores ;)

Wow.. After changing over to the .177CAL barrel and making the necessary adjustments to ensure it complies with the PFT rules as set by CAFTA. A single cart will now yield 80 shots before it starts dropping off....  :o
Shoots in the mid 480's with a 7.9g pellet. After testing with a few different pellets, the gun choose JSB's 4.53's 8.4g as it's favorite...
Here's a pic...

Best I could do are groups similar to this one. The Tasco RD is not parallax free...lol
I'll test this pistol with a scope to see what it's really capable of.
Shot from a rested position using a shooting bag for support at 40'.

That's horrible shooting!...if you were trying to hit that dime ;D
A nice scope will definitely tighten that up even more!

Got your 10 cents worth out of that target.  :) Pretty good group for the 22xx for 40'. 8) Scope should make a difference.

I was aiming for the dime.... ;D and yes, .10c well spent... 8)

An unlikely candidate rose to the challenge and made the grade....
This was a bit unexpected to say the least, I opened up a fresh tin of Gamo Hunter pellets and decided to try them in the pistol R.D. combo... I have used these in the past with some success in a few rifles, so what could it hurt to try them in the pistol...

8) ...The chosen one... 8)

Either that or the coffee buzz had worn off. ;D Either way. Some very nice shooting on your part. ;)

Thanks rickyjr1954 and Welcome to the forum... I've seen some of the cool builds you've made over the past few years.. Have you taken any of them out to a Field Target match?.. FT can be an addictive sport, can't say you haven't been warned...  >:D

Hi FTGuy, what other mods have you  done to the pistol. I just acquired a 2240 and the modding must start! ;)
